Minimum Wage Advice

Paul Sellers
bio

Paul Sellers is the TUC's policy officer responsible for the law on national minimum wage, working time and paid holidays. As well as being the TUC's expert on these issues, his job is also to campaign to put TUC policy into practice, working to influence the UK Government, the European Union and other decision makers.

His duties include writing the TUC's evidence to the Low Pay Commission's annual inquiry, and representing the TUC to the Commission. He is also working towards a reduction in the number of UK employees working excessive hours, ending individual opt-outs from the Working Time Directive, extending annual leave and public holiday rights and ensuring the law is enforced.

Paul joined the TUC in 1997, having previously worked in a wide variety of occupations, turning his hand to everything from building boats to managing a supermarket. He has been involved in the labour movement since leaving school and has previously served as an unpaid official for several trade unions.
