What is virtualisation?

Virtualisation is a methodology that can be used to consolidate resources and increase the workload so they're being run on those resources, i.e. you could have one resource, one server, running multiple workloads rather than one workload being used on one resource.

Mick Walker is the Dynamic Infrastructure Principal for IBM Systems and Technology Group with a remit to promote sustainable, cost effective and energy efficient IT in the UK. Drawing on his 30 years in the IT industry holding a variety of consultative and management positions, Mick combines a sharp insight into the business challenges that drive IT with a good understanding of the underlying technology.

His current position involves advising IBM clients on how to reduce the cost and manage the risks for the IT infrastructure, whilst improving service levels in the datacentre and distributed computing environments.
