What are the key challenges posed by today’s backup environments?
We can look at the potential cost a business might incur through data loss from two angles, the first one is around financial penalties that might be imposed by regulators, such as the information commissioners office, we've seen a number of headlines where the information commissioners officer has imposed some pretty hefty fines on service providers to government offices for example as a result of a data loss and following a data loss a regulator might impose addition data control or technology controls which they need to comply to and they'll be audited against those control over the following years and that can cost a business a lot with re-organising or re-strategizing their business. The second area to look is obviously loss of revenue and the cost of winning back business if you loose customers as a result of a data loss then you have to go back into the market place and try and rebuild that customer base that can be extremely costly to a mid sized business.
